This bird’s-eye view of the business provided us with a clearer understanding of the product’s significance and identified potential avenues for growth.

About the client

Our client is a prominent leader in the wellness and health food industry. As a business-to-consumer (B2C) company, they cater to individuals who are passionate about achieving their weight loss or gain goals while maintaining a strong emphasis on a healthy lifestyle. Over the years, we have had the privilege of assisting them in expanding and nurturing their technological landscape.

Having attained a mature and stable position in the market, our client’s primary focus has shifted towards supporting and reinforcing their existing processes. The business owner understands them profoundly, and actively engages with our development team. They personally assign tasks and identify any potential issues, ensuring a close collaboration to drive the business forward.

Challenge

Having a deep understanding of the inner workings of their business, the client primarily focused on refining and bolstering an already efficient system. They were quite familiar with both the challenges and successes they experienced, having become accustomed to them over time. Given these circumstances, the client harbored doubts about the potential benefits of collaborating with Product Owners or Business Analysts.

Solution

Our proposal to the client was to adopt a new approach that incorporated our expertise in Business Analysis. We aimed to showcase to the client that even with an already efficient business, taking a comprehensive view and prioritizing value could uncover untapped opportunities for growth.

The client agreed to participate in this experiment, and during our interviews, we made a conscious effort to steer away from discussions about specific features and bugs. Instead, our focus was on delving deep into the core values of the product and understanding the underlying factors that contributed to customer loyalty.

Based on the valuable information we gathered, we formulated several hypotheses regarding the product, the processes involved, and the target users. Using these hypotheses as a foundation, we developed high-level features that aligned with the identified areas of potential improvement. We shared these hypotheses and features with the client, engaging in collaborative brainstorming sessions. While some ideas were deemed inapplicable by the client, others sparked interest and were further developed into tangible features. It was a collaborative process where some features were derived from our findings, while others were expanded upon the client’s own ideas.

Result

Our efforts have resulted in significant outcomes as the client became inspired to pursue further product development, actively involving us in the process.

Over the course of this project, we successfully shifted the client’s initial skepticism to optimism and understanding. We managed to explain that our objective was not simply an upsell, but rather centered around enhancing their product. Our aim was to deliver added value to their customers, nurture customer loyalty, and ultimately drive revenue. This shift in perspective resonated with the client, allowing them to recognize the genuine benefits of our collaboration and the long-term potential it held for their business.
